VDI 3805 describes an EDP data format for product catalogue data of manufacturers of Building Services equipment to be used in software applications for layout, calculation, CAD, design, planning and management.
The standard was developed over several years in cooperation with leading manufacturers, planning offices and software suppliers for technical building equipment. The different BS product groups are described in separate standard pages in an open standardised format. They contain selection criteria such as main product groups, properties and accessories, as well as technical data such as output data, design data, characteristic curves and functions. Equally, the geometric data with disturbance spaces, connection data and a simple or detailed CAD shape with material data, surface data and colours are allocated to each product. Manufacturers record the data of their BS products and export them in files to VDI 3805. Planners and builders import the BS components from a VDI 3805 file and integrate them into an EDP plant model.
